How do i connect my Whoop?

How to Connect WHOOP to Apple Health (and STEPPI)

If you’re using a WHOOP device and want your steps and activity data to appear in STEPPI, you’ll first need to connect WHOOP to Apple Health. STEPPI reads your steps directly from Apple Health, so once WHOOP is linked there, STEPPI can automatically sync your progress.

Step 1: Connect WHOOP to Apple Health

  1. Update the WHOOP app to the latest version on your iPhone.
  2. Open the WHOOP app → tap More (bottom right).
  3. Go to App Settings → Integrations → Apple Health.
  4. Tap Connect and follow the prompts.
  5. When asked, allow WHOOP to write data to Apple Health (e.g., Steps, Active Energy, Workouts).
  6. Open the Apple Health app → tap your profile icon (top right)Apps → WHOOP → turn ON all the data types you want WHOOP to share (especially Steps).

Step 2: Give WHOOP Priority in Apple Health

To ensure your step count is accurate and not duplicated by other devices (like your iPhone or Apple Watch):

  1. Open the Apple Health app.
  2. Tap Browse → Steps → Data Sources & Access.
  3. Under Data Sources, tap Edit.
  4. Drag WHOOP to the top of the list — this tells Apple Health to use WHOOP as the primary source for step data.
  5. Tap Done to save.

This ensures that STEPPI will read your WHOOP steps first and avoid inflated totals from multiple devices.

Step 3: Connect STEPPI to Apple Health

Once WHOOP is successfully writing data into Apple Health:

  1. Open the STEPPI app.
  2. Tap your Profile → Connected Apps → Apple Health.
  3. Turn ON permissions for Steps, Distance, and any other metrics you’d like to track.
  4. STEPPI will now automatically pull your WHOOP step data through Apple Health.

Important Note

Some users have reported inconsistencies between WHOOP and Apple Health step data — such as delayed syncing, duplicated counts, or steps assigned to the wrong day.

These issues are related to the integration between WHOOP and Apple Health, not the STEPPI app.

If your step count in STEPPI doesn’t match WHOOP exactly, it’s likely due to WHOOP’s data syncing behavior with Apple Health. WHOOP has acknowledged this and continues to refine its sync accuracy.

For Android Users: Connect WHOOP to Health Connect

Step 1. Install & Set Up Health Connect
  1. Install Health Connect by Android from the Google Play Store.
  2. Open the app and follow setup prompts to grant necessary permissions.

Step 2. Connect WHOOP → Health Connect
  1. Open the WHOOP app on your Android device.
  2. Go to App Settings → Integrations → Health Connect.
  3. Tap Connect and give WHOOP permission to write data (especially Steps, Calories, and Workouts) to Health Connect.

Step 3. Connect STEPPI → Health Connect
  1. Open the STEPPI app.
  2. Go to Profile → Connected Apps → Health Connect.
  3. Allow STEPPI to read data (Steps, Distance, Calories, etc.) from Health Connect.
  4. STEPPI will now automatically sync your WHOOP activity data through Health Connect.

Optional: Give WHOOP Priority in Health Connect

If you use multiple apps (e.g., Fitbit, Samsung Health, or WHOOP) writing step data:

  1. Open the Health Connect app.
  2. Tap App Permissions → Steps.
  3. Make sure WHOOP is allowed to write step data.

Important Note on Step Accuracy

Some users have reported inconsistencies between WHOOP and Apple Health / Health Connect step data — such as:

  • Steps appearing under the wrong day
  • Step counts higher or lower than expected
  • Delays in data syncing

These issues are related to how WHOOP syncs with Apple Health or Health Connect, not with the STEPPI app.

STEPPI simply reads the data available from these sources — so if WHOOP’s sync is off, the same numbers will appear in STEPPI.

WHOOP has acknowledged ongoing sync improvements in recent updates.
