What you need before you start
- An iPhone
- A Huawei device (watch or band)
- The Huawei Health app is installed
- The Apple Health app (default on iOS)
- The STEPPI Teams app is installed
- An active internet or data connection
How it works
Huawei devices do not connect directly to STEPPI Teams on iPhone
Instead, your steps follow this path:
Huawei Health → Apple Health → STEPPI Teams
How to connect Huawei Health to STEPPI Teams
Step 1: Connect Huawei Health to Apple Health
- Open the Huawei Health app
- Go to Settings
- Find Data sharing or Connected apps
Enable syncing with Apple Health
Make sure step data is shared
Step 2: Allow Apple Health permissions
- Open iPhone Settings
- Tap Health
- Select Data Access & Devices
- Tap Huawei Health
Make sure Huawei Health can write steps data
Step 3: Connect Apple Health to STEPPI Teams
- Open the STEPPI Teams app
- When prompted to connect a device
- Choose Apple Health
- Tap Connect
Tap Turn On All and then Save
After connecting
- Open the Huawei Health app and make sure your steps are updating
- Check that steps appear in Apple Health
Open STEPPI Teams and pull down on the home screen to refresh
Your steps should appear shortly in STEPPI Teams
If your steps are not updating
- Make sure Huawei Health is syncing data to Apple Health
- Check that Apple Health is receiving step data
- Check that STEPPI Teams has permission to read Apple Health data
If it still doesn’t work
- Restart your iPhone
- Open Huawei Health first, then Apple Health, then STEPPI Teams
- Disconnect and reconnect Apple Health in STEPPI Teams
- Make sure all apps are updated
Troubleshooting Huawei Health (iPhone) connection issues
Huawei Health is connected but steps are not updating in STEPPI Teams
What’s happening?
Why this happens
This may happen if:
- Huawei Health is not syncing data to Apple Health
- Apple Health is not receiving step data
- STEPPI Teams does not have the correct permissions
- There is a delay in syncing between apps
How to fix it
1. Check Huawei Health sync
- Open the Huawei Health app
- Make sure your steps are updating
2. Check Apple Health data
- Open the Apple Health app
- Make sure the same steps appear there
STEPPI Teams can only read data that exists in Apple Health
3. Check Apple Health permissions
Go to iPhone Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices
Check both:
- Huawei Health (can write data)
- STEPPI Teams (can read data)
4. Refresh STEPPI Teams
- Open the STEPPI Teams app
- Pull down on the home screen to refresh
- Wait a few seconds
Manually added data is not counted
Important to know
STEPPI Teams only reads physically tracked activity from Apple Health
Steps that are manually added or edited will not be counted
Why this happens
To ensure fair tracking, only real movement data is accepted
What to do
- Wear your Huawei device while moving
- Make sure Huawei Health is syncing automatically
- Avoid manually adding step data
Still not seeing your steps?
If your steps appear in Huawei Health but not in STEPPI Teams:
- Check Apple Health sync
- Refresh STEPPI Teams
- Follow the troubleshooting steps above
