Troubleshooting Samsung Health connection issues
Samsung Health is connected through Health Connect but steps are not updating
What’s happening?
Why this happens
This may happen if:
- STEPPI Teams does not have the required Health Connect permissions
- Samsung Health is not writing data to Health Connect
- Health Connect is not set up correctly
- There is a delay in syncing data
- One of the apps was recently installed or updated
How to fix it
1. Check Health Connect permissions
- Open Health Connect
- Check that STEPPI Teams has permission to read activity data
Make sure permissions for steps and activity are enabled
2. Check Samsung Health permissions
- Open Health Connect
- Make sure Samsung Health is connected
- Make sure Samsung Health is allowed to write activity data
3. Open Samsung Health first
Open the Samsung Health app
Make sure today’s steps are visible there
STEPPI Teams can only sync data that already exists in Samsung Health and is shared through Health Connect
4. Refresh STEPPI Teams
- Open the STEPPI Teams app
- Pull down on the home screen to refresh
- Wait a few seconds
5. Restart your device
- Restart your phone
- Open Samsung Health first
- Then open STEPPI Teams again
Manually added data is not counted
Important to know
STEPPI Teams only reads physically tracked activity shared through Health Connect
Steps or activity that are:
- Manually added
- Edited
- Entered by unsupported third-party apps
will not appear in STEPPI Teams and will not count toward challenges
Why this happens
To ensure fair tracking, STEPPI Teams only syncs data that is:
- Automatically recorded by your phone or wearable
- Verified as real physical movement
Manually entered data cannot be validated and is excluded
What to do
- Carry your phone or wear your Samsung device while moving
- Make sure Samsung Health is recording steps automatically
- Check that Samsung Health is connected to Health Connect
- Avoid manually adding or editing data
Still not seeing your steps?
If your steps are visible in Samsung Health but not in STEPPI Teams:
- Refresh the STEPPI Teams app
- Check Health Connect permissions
- Follow the troubleshooting steps above
