Connect Garmin to STEPPI Teams
What’s happening?
What you need before you start
- A Garmin device and an active Garmin account
- The Garmin Connect app is installed
- The STEPPI Teams app is installed
- An active internet or data connection
How to connect Garmin to STEPPI Teams
- When prompted to connect a device in the STEPPI Teams app
- Choose Garmin
- Tap Connect
- Log in to your Garmin account
- Authorise STEPPI Teams to access your data
Allow Garmin permissions
Make sure you allow STEPPI Teams to access your activity data
These permissions are required for STEPPI Teams to track your steps
After connecting
- Open the Garmin Connect app to make sure your steps are updating
- Open STEPPI Teams and pull down on the home screen to refresh
Your steps should appear shortly in STEPPI Teams
If your steps are not updating
- Make sure Garmin Connect is tracking your steps correctly
- Check that your Garmin account is still connected
If it still doesn’t work
- Restart your phone
- Disconnect and reconnect Garmin in STEPPI Teams
- Make sure you are using the latest version of Garmin Connect and STEPPI Teams
Troubleshooting Garmin connection issues
Garmin is connected but steps are not updating
What’s happening?
Why this happens
This may happen if:
- STEPPI Teams does not have access to your Garmin data
- Garmin Connect is not syncing properly
- There is a delay in syncing data
- The app was recently installed or updated
How to fix it
1. Check Garmin connection
Make sure your Garmin account is still connected to STEPPI Teams
Reconnect if needed
2. Check Garmin Connect
Open the Garmin Connect app
Make sure your steps are updating there first
STEPPI Teams can only sync data that exists in Garmin Connect
3. Refresh STEPPI Teams
Open the STEPPI Teams app
Pull down on the home screen to refresh
Wait a few seconds
4. Restart your device
Restart your phone
Open STEPPI Teams again
Manually added data is not counted
Important to know
STEPPI Teams only syncs physically tracked activity from Garmin
Steps or activity that are:
- Manually added
- Edited
- Entered from unsupported sources
will not be counted
Why this happens
To ensure fair tracking, STEPPI Teams only accepts:
- Activity recorded directly by your Garmin device
Manually entered data cannot be validated and is excluded
What to do
- Wear your Garmin device while moving
- Make sure Garmin Connect is syncing regularly
- Avoid manually editing activity data
Still not seeing your steps?
If your steps are visible in Garmin Connect but not in STEPPI Teams:
Refresh the STEPPI Teams app
Check your connection
