Connect Fitbit to STEPPI Teams


What’s happening?


You want to connect your Fitbit account to STEPPI Teams, so your steps and activity are synced from your Fitbit device



What you need before you start


  • A Fitbit device and an active Fitbit account
  • The Fitbit app is installed
  • The STEPPI Teams app is installed
  • An active internet or data connection



How to connect Fitbit to STEPPI Teams


  1. When prompted to connect a device in the STEPPI Teams app
  2. Choose Fitbit
  3. Tap Connect


  • Log in to your Fitbit account
  • Authorise STEPPI Teams to access your data



Allow Fitbit permissions


  • Make sure you allow STEPPI Teams to access your activity data


These permissions are required for STEPPI Teams to track your steps



After connecting


  • Open the Fitbit app to make sure your steps are updating
  • Open STEPPI Teams and pull down on the home screen to refresh


Your steps should appear shortly in STEPPI Teams



If your steps are not updating


  • Make sure the Fitbit app is tracking your steps correctly
  • Check that your Fitbit account is still connected



If it still doesn’t work


  • Restart your phone
  • Disconnect and reconnect Fitbit in STEPPI Teams
  • Make sure you are using the latest version of the Fitbit app and STEPPI Teams



Troubleshooting Fitbit connection issues


Fitbit is connected but steps are not updating



What’s happening?


You’ve connected Fitbit to STEPPI Teams, but your steps are missing, delayed, or not updating



Why this happens


This may happen if:


  • STEPPI Teams does not have access to your Fitbit data
  • The Fitbit app is not syncing properly
  • There is a delay in syncing data
  • The app was recently installed or updated



How to fix it


1. Check Fitbit connection


Make sure your Fitbit account is still connected to STEPPI Teams

Reconnect if needed



2. Check Fitbit app


  • Open the Fitbit app
  • Make sure your steps are updating there first


STEPPI Teams can only sync data that exists in the Fitbit app



3. Refresh STEPPI Teams


  • Open the STEPPI Teams app
  • Pull down on the home screen to refresh
  • Wait a few seconds



4. Restart your device


  • Restart your phone
  • Open STEPPI Teams again


Manually added data is not counted



Important to know


STEPPI Teams only syncs physically tracked activity from Fitbit


Steps or activity that are:


  • Manually added
  • Edited
  • Entered from unsupported sources


will not be counted



Why this happens


To ensure fair tracking, STEPPI Teams only accepts:


  • Activity recorded directly by your Fitbit device


Manually entered data cannot be validated and is excluded



What to do


  • Wear your Fitbit device while moving
  • Make sure the Fitbit app is syncing regularly
  • Avoid manually editing activity data



Still not seeing your steps?


If your steps are visible in the Fitbit app but not in STEPPI Teams:


  • Refresh the STEPPI Teams app
  • Check your connection
  • Follow the troubleshooting steps above
