Connect Apple Health to STEPPI Teams

Connect Apple Health to STEPPI Teams

What’s happening?

You want to connect Apple Health to STEPPI Teams, so your steps and activity are tracked using your iPhone

What you need before you start

  • An iPhone
  • Apple Health installed (default on iOS)
  • The STEPPI Teams app is installed
  • An active internet or data connection

How to connect Apple Health to STEPPI Teams

When prompted to connect a device in the STEPPI Teams app

Choose Apple Health

Tap Connect

Allow Apple Health permissions

Make sure STEPPI Teams is allowed to access:

  • Active Energy
  • Exercise Minutes
  • Steps
  • Walking + Running Distance

Tap Turn On All and then Save

These permissions are required for STEPPI Teams to track your activity

After connecting

  • Open the Apple Health app to make sure your steps are updating
  • Open STEPPI Teams and pull down on the home screen to refresh

Your steps should appear shortly in STEPPI Teams

If your steps are not updating

  • Make sure Apple Health is tracking steps correctly
  • Check that STEPPI Teams permissions are still enabled in iPhone settings

If it still doesn’t work

  • Restart your iPhone
  • Disconnect and reconnect Apple Health in STEPPI Teams
  • Make sure you are using the latest version of iOS and STEPPI Teams

Troubleshooting Apple Health connection issues

Apple Health is connected but steps are not updating

What’s happening?

You’ve connected Apple Health to STEPPI Teams, but your steps are missing, delayed, or not updating

Why this happens

This may happen if:

  • STEPPI Teams does not have the required Apple Health permissions
  • Apple Health is not tracking steps correctly
  • There is a delay in syncing data
  • The app was recently installed or updated

How to fix it

1. Check Apple Health permissions

  • Open iPhone Settings
  • Tap Health
  • Select Data Access & Devices
  • Tap STEPPI Teams

Make sure all permissions are enabled (especially Steps and Activity)

2. Open Apple Health first

  • Open the Apple Health app
  • Make sure today’s steps are visible

STEPPI Teams can only sync steps that already exist in Apple Health

3. Refresh STEPPI Teams

  • Open the STEPPI Teams app
  • Pull down on the home screen to refresh
  • Wait a few seconds

4. Enable Background App Refresh

  • Go to iPhone Settings
  • Tap General
  • Select Background App Refresh

Make sure it is enabled for STEPPI Teams

Manually added data is not counted

Important to know

STEPPI Teams only reads physically tracked activity from Apple Health

Steps or activity that are:

  • Manually added
  • Edited
  • Entered by a third-party app

will not appear in STEPPI Teams and will not count toward challenges

Why this happens

To ensure fair tracking, STEPPI Teams only syncs data that is:

  • Automatically recorded by your phone or wearable
  • Verified as real physical movement

Manually entered data cannot be validated and is excluded

What to do

  • Carry your phone or wear your device while moving
  • Make sure Apple Health is recording steps automatically
  • Avoid manually adding or editing data

Still not seeing your steps?

If your steps are visible in Apple Health but not in STEPPI Teams:

  • Refresh the STEPPI Teams app
  • Check permissions
  • Follow the troubleshooting steps above
