How Do I Set Up my STEPPI Account?

Getting started with STEPPI is easy! Follow these steps to help with downloading and registering your STEPPI account:

Download STEPPI from the App Store, Google Play Store or Huawei App Gallery.
Open the STEPPI app.
Tap on 'Sign Up' to create your account.
Register personal details and tap on the 'Agree to T&C' box to confirm you agree to STEPPI's Terms & Conditions.
Once completed tap on 'Register'.
Enter the OTP Confirmation Code sent to your mobile phone for verification, to continue tap 'Go'.
Select the mobile phone, smartwatch, or fitness wearable you will be using to track your activity data.
Follow prompts to connect your device to STEPPI, make sure you select ‘Allow all’ to enable STEPPI to track activity data.
To change your preferences and add an image, go to 'Profile' in the STEPPI app.| Can I Change My Fitness Tracker?
You can change your preferred device at any time on the STEPPI app; follow these steps:

Go to 'Profile' tab on STEPPI app
Next tap 'You Connected Via'
Click the device of choice from the list and 'CONNECT'
Follow prompts to allow STEPPI to track data
Go to the STEPPI home page and swipe down to sync data

If I Change My Device, Will I Lose My Previous Synced Activity On STEPPI?
No, when you change your device, you will NOT lose any data, the STEPPI app will continue to track your steps using your new chosen device, once you have connected.
You can only track data to your STEPPI account from one device at a time, please ensure you have synced your data before changing devices.

I can't see my device on the list. Can I still use STEPPI and join challenges?
Here at STEPPI we aim to make fitness fun and accessible to all, and we connect to most wearable devices. However, if you can't see your device listed, check out these alternative options to connect:

STEPPI connects to smartphones via Apple Health app (on iOS) and Google Fit (on Android), you can start to track your steps data using your mobile phone.
If you prefer to try to connect your wearable, it is possible to check if your device's app can connect steps via the Google Fit app (Android) or Apple Health app (iPhone). Go to your wearable application on your mobile phone and go to settings to check compatibility with Google Fit (Android) or Apple Health (iOS).

Follow the instructions to connect your device's app to Google Fit or Apple Health app. To check if the steps are syncing in Google Fit or Apple Health from your device, open the device application, and then Google Fit or Apple Health.

To successfully sync your steps to STEPPI, first open the device's app and then Google Fit or Apple Health and last open STEPPI app to confirm if steps are being tracked.

Please note: Steps may not accurately pull into STEPPI as there is an additional link (application) in the data reading process. If this is the case, we recommend tracking steps via your mobile phone (please note for tracking via mobile, the mobile phone must be carried on the person for the pedometer to count the steps).

How do my steps sync to the STEPPI app?
STEPPI connects to your device’s app on your mobile phone, not directly with your device. If you are worried that there is a discrepancy in activity data, first check your fitness app is in sync with your device and then open STEPPI and swipe down to refresh the page.

How often should I sync my steps?
We recommend syncing your steps every day when on a challenge to reflect on the leaderboard. You can check previous days data by clicking on the activity icon on the homepage of the STEPPI app.

Can I manually input my activity on STEPPI?
Manual activity entry is only allowed on select challenges. All other STEPPI challenges require data to be read from a compatible wearable device or health app.

Can I create my own challenges on STEPPI?
Yes, we encourage people to get active with their friends and family. You can create private steps challenges by going to ‘My Challenges’ create private challenge and follow prompts to create and send to friends. Private challenges start at midnight on the same day they are created.

Connecting My Huawei Phone to STEPPI
Follow these steps to connect your Huawei phone to the STEPPI app.

Huawei connects to STEPPI through the Huawei Health app, when connecting to STEPPI you will be prompted to install the Huawei Health App if you have not already done so.

Download STEPPI and create an account.
Follow prompts to allow STEPPI to access your activity data.
Tap Huawei Health from the list of devices and click CONNECT
Follow prompts to allow STEPPI access to your activity data.
Select Allow All to confirm.

Connecting My iOS Phone to STEPPI
Follow these steps to connect your iOS phone to the STEPPI app:

STEPPI connects to iOS phones via the Apple Health app, which allows you to track activity data like steps and distance through your mobile device. You may need to download the Apple Health app from the Apple store if your device does not already have the app installed.

Connecting Your Apple Health App to STEPPI
Complete the sign-up process on STEPPI; follow prompts to choose your device,
Tap iPhone/Apple Watch from the list of devices and click ‘CONNECT’.
Follow prompts to allow STEPPI access to your activity data.
You will see a connection confirmation. Select ‘OK’ to confirm.
Awesome! Your Apple Health account is now connected to STEPPI

Connecting My Android Phone To STEPPI
Follow these steps to connect your Android phone to the STEPPI app.

STEPPI connects to Android phones via the Google Fit app, which allows you to track activity data like steps and distance through your mobile device. You may need to download the Google Fit app from the Google Play store if your device does not already have the app installed.

*You will not be able to connect to Google Fit on STEPPI app unless the Google Fit app has been installed on your Android device and an account is created.

Connecting Your Google Fit App to STEPPI

Complete the sign-up process on STEPPI; follow prompts to choose your device,
Tap Android/Google Fit from the list of devices and click ‘CONNECT’.
Follow prompts to allow STEPPI access to your activity data.
You will see a connection confirmation. Select ‘OK’ to confirm.

Troubleshooting

What if my steps don’t sync to STEPPI from my Google Fit?

If you have read and completed the steps to connect STEPPI to your Google Fit app and the data is still not syncing to STEPPI, find out the most common reasons here:

My steps are not showing in Google Fit.
Make sure your check the settings in Google Fit to see if you have the activity tracking turned on, follow these steps:
Open the Google Fit app on your phone.
Tap ‘Profile’
Go to ‘Settings’
Find ‘Activity tracking’ and select automatic activity tracking ‘On’

If you still can’t see your steps check you have connected the correct Google account when getting set up on STEPPI. To do this open the Google Fit app, go to Profile, and see the email listed under your name.

After confirming your email address, you can reconnect your Google Fit to STEPPI, make sure to select the same Google account that you’ve connected to Google Fit.

Connecting My Huawei Watch to Apple Health

Open Huawei Health and follow these steps:

Show All health data
Please do the same steps for all metrics: steps, exercise minutes, calories, running or walking distance and click on it
Scroll down to data source & access,
At the bottom of the screen, you will see data sources
Click edit top right
Next to Huawei health logo you will see three lines, please press, and hold the lines and drag it to the top
Huawei health will be the main source of data for all metrics.

Connecting My Huawei Watch To STEPPI

Follow these steps to connect your Huawei Watch to the STEPPI app:

Please note Huawei connects to STEPPI through the Huawei Health app, when connecting to STEPPI you will be prompted to install the Huawei Health App if you have not already done so.

Complete the sign-up process on STEPPI; follow prompts to choose your device, select 'Huawei Health.'
Click 'Connect'; this will open the Huawei Health app on your mobile phone. Allow STEPPI to access your data by selecting the 'Allow All' box.
You can change your device of choice at any time by going to 'Profile' > 'You Connected Via' and then selecting the preferred device.

Connecting My Garmin to STEPPI

Follow these steps to connect your Garmin to the STEPPI app:

Click 'Connect'; this will open Garmin on your mobile phone. Allow STEPPI to access your data by selecting the 'Allow All' box followed by 'Allow.

Troubleshooting

What if my steps don’t sync to STEPPI from my Garmin?

If you have followed all the steps to connect to Garmin and your steps are still not syncing, we recommend removing the connection on STEPPI app and re-connecting.

STEPPI may not read all of the data on the first day of connection because Garmin only allows data to be tracked from the point of making the connection, not the whole day.

Connecting My Fitbit to STEPPI

Follow these steps to connect your Fitbit to the STEPPI app.

To connect your Fitbit and get started, you will need to:

Complete the sign-up process on STEPPI; follow prompts to choose your device, select 'Fitbit.'
Click 'Connect'. This will open Fitbit on your mobile phone. Allow STEPPI to access your data by selecting the 'Allow All' box followed by 'Allow.' Your default setting may be set to allow for 1 day; we recommend changing this to 1 year
You can change your device of choice at any time by going to 'Profile' > 'You Connected Via' and then selecting the preferred device.

How to Sync my Fitbit

Once you have successfully connected your Fitbit to the STEPPI app follow this guide on how to sync your activity data.

What if my steps don’t sync to STEPPI from my Fitbit?

If you have read and completed the steps to connect STEPPI to your Fitbit app and the data is still not syncing to STEPPI, find out the most common reasons here:

The authorization time from Fitbit has expired so Fitbit is no longer allowing the data to be shared, so you can reconnect your Fitbit to STEPPI – we recommend selecting allow for 1 year.
An issue occurs within the Fitbit cloud and data is not being tracked – we recommend closing the Fitbit app and opening again
If you have checked all of the above and the steps are not syncing, we recommend removing the device connection on STEPPI and reconnecting.

Connecting My Apple Watch To STEPPI
Follow these steps to connect your Apple Watch to the STEPPI app.

Complete the sign-up process on STEPPI, follow prompts to choose your device, select 'iPhone/Apple Watch.'
Click 'Connect'. This will open the Apple Health app. Allow STEPPI to access health data by turning all the data categories to 'ON' and tapping 'Allow.'
You can change your device of choice at any time by going to 'Profile' > 'You Connected Via' and then selecting the preferred device.

How to Sync data from your Apple Watch:

Once you have successfully connected your Apple Watch to the STEPPI app follow this guide on how to sync your activity data.

Your Apple Watch connects to STEPPI through the Apple Health app, which allows STEPPI to track activity data like steps and distance through your mobile device. You may need to download the Apple Health app from the Apple store if your device does not already have the app installed.

To sync your steps, start by:

Open the Apple Health App
Sync with your Apple Watch
Open the STEPPI App on your phone and swipe down to sync.

If your Apple Health app isn’t showing the correct steps then it won’t be able to sync with STEPPI and you will need to troubleshoot the connection from your Apple Watch to the Apple Health app.

Troubleshooting

What if my steps don’t sync to STEPPI from my Apple Phone or Apple Watch?
Your activity data is correct in the Apple Health app but when you sync to STEPPI, your steps do not correspond, first check you have allowed STEPPI to read the data in Apple Health app settings:

Open Apple Health app, tap ‘Profile’ top right.
Under privacy click ‘Apps’
Find STEPPI open and make sure all options are toggled ‘On’ and are highlighted in green.
If not, turn all to ‘On’ allowing STEPPI to read the activity data.

If you discover no steps are displayed in the Apple Health app, check the inbuilt pedometer in your iPhone is turned on to enable steps to track and sync to STEPPI:

Open your iPhone's Settings >
Tap ‘Privacy’ and ‘Motion & Fitness’
Check all boxes are set to 'On” or highlighted green

If you are trying to sync an alternative device like Polar or Xiaomi through the Apple Health app, then we recommend trouble shooting the connection between your device and the Apple Health app.

If you have checked all the above and the steps are not syncing, we recommend removing the device connection on STEPPI and reconnecting.

| Does STEPPI connect to my Samsung device or Samsung Health data?
STEPPI is working on connecting directly with Samsung soon; in the meantime, you can still participate in STEPPI challenges using a Samsung device or Samsung Health via the Google Fit app.

Instructions to Connect Samsung to Google Fit:

Download Google Fit for FREE from the Google Play store.
Once you have downloaded Google Fit, select Google Fit to track your activity on the STEPPI app, this will track activity data from your mobile phone, (note you must carry your mobile phone with you to enable the activity tracking).
If you would like to try to connect your Samsung Health app, please continue with the following steps. (Please note as this option relies on several apps connectivity before it reaches STEPPI the data may not always reflect accurately).
Download Google Health Sync from Google Play Store and open the Health Sync app.
Follow instructions to set up the Health Sync app.
When selecting your Sync Direction, choose to sync from Samsung Health and select Samsung Health to Google Fit as your Sync Direction.
Select the 'Check Google Fit Connection' button and select the same Google account you have connected in Google Fit and select 'Allow' to give Health Sync access to Google Fit.
Select the 'Check Activity Tracking in Google Fit' and make sure Google Fit Tracking is turned 'Off' then select 'OK.'
Lastly, click to check the data you want Health Sync to share with Google Fit, and turn on 'All permissions' when prompted.

Note: The above instruction to connect to Health Sync is a solution for those seeking an alternative to syncing steps to STEPPI via Google Fit. STEPPI is not responsible for data tracked via Samsung Health Sync, and all Samsung related questions should go to Samsung Health support here:

Connecting My Polar Device To STEPPI

Follow these steps to connect your Polar device to the STEPPI app:

Please note STEPPI connects to Polar devices via the Polar Flow and Apple Health app, which allows you to track activity data like steps and distance through your mobile device.
You may need to download the Polar Flow app from the Apple App store if your device does not already have the app installed and connect your Polar device.

STEPPI is not responsible for data tracked via Polar Flow, and all Polar related questions should go to Polar Flow support.

CONNECTING POLAR BEAT WITH GOOGLE FIT

You can connect Polar Beat for Android with Google Fit. Google Fit is an open platform that lets you control your fitness data from multiple apps and devices. You can view Google Fit training data at HTTP://GOOGLE.COM/FIT or use Google Fit mobile app from the Google Play Store.

Install or update the Polar Beat app from the Google Play Store.
Sign in to Polar Beat with your Polar account or create one.

Open the menu in the top left corner, go to Settings and toggle Google Fit on.

Give Polar Beat permission to transfer data to Google Fit.

From now on your training data will also sync with Google Fit. Note that previous data will not be synced.

You can disconnect at any time in Polar Beat Settings:
